About Us
At PAC we have 2 goals…
#1, We aim to foster the local creative arts in Parksville, NY by developing and producing unique, interdisciplinary art exhibitions, events and performances featuring theater, dance and music by members of the local community and beyond. We are a new non profit, acquiring our 501c3 status in May, 2024. Last year we produced 3 events: the TSTS (Too Short to Suck) Film Festival and Memmy Award Ceremony, the Parksville B’Kawk!, an outdoor chicken-themed festival with live music, vendors and games, and the Decrepit Ghouls Variety Show, an immersive, theatrical, Hallloween spectacular, unequal parts spooky and hilarious, but mostly just a great party. We will be bringing these same events back to Parksville in 2025, reinventing and adding new twists as the years progress.
#2: Thanks to a generous grant from Empire State Development, and with the help of the State Historic Preservation Office, we are finally able to restore the former Parksville Synagogue, which will become our very own gallery and performance space. The Tefereth Israel Anshei Synagogue, built in 1930 (not 1907!) is a historic landmark, beloved by the community. It has some amazing original details, but needs some work.
Here is an initial list of renovation needs:
Insulate and update HVAC for year-round use
Renovate bathrooms to working order
Fix roof leaks
Pull drop ceiling and restore tin ceiling
Pull carpet and restore wood floor
Pull wall paneling and support new insulation with interior sheetrock
Update exterior doors and windows for security and insulation
Landscape the grounds to include a sculpture garden, fountain and small amphitheater for events and community gatherings
We are extremely happy to be helping to revitalize Main Street in Parksville along with some other great folks. Please consider making a tax deductible donation (button at the bottom of this page) to assist in our restoration and programming efforts.
